Is work life balance possible?

Is work life balance possible

Maybe it’s the uninterrupted nights sleep last night (hallelujah) or Monday morning adrenalin, but I’m in the mood to talk work/life balance (or lack there of.) There is nothing IN balance about our chosen modern working motherhood lives. And sister, that is ok! There is nothing natural about commuting an hour to work, nothing natural about the amount of distractions or pace at which we live our lives.

But this is where we are at. Not sure who coined the phrase or at what point we all bought into it, but striving for work/life balance is actually making it worse. Since I don’t have a better phrase yet (but I am working on it) I’ll redefine it. Balance is about going fully into each moment. Not feeling guilty about baby when we at work or worrying about work when we are with our kids.

Balance is a moment by moment choice. And the only way to feel like you are in balance is to NOT juggle everything at once. Go fully into playing on the floor with your child, go fully into that difficult conversation with your boss, go fully into picking out organic milk at the grocery store. Balance is bringing the fullness of who you are into the moment, not dividing yourself up into all that you have to get done! So how will you redefine balance in your life?! #newmom #maternityleave #balance #sandiegomom #workingmom #wahm #bringingbackthevillage #worklifebalance
