A melting ice cube waters my house plant

To all my gardening geeks,
You know when you go to water your potted plant and the water just runs over the side?! And it happens EVERYTIME, no matter how slowly or delicately you try. EVERYTIME you dribble a little or a lot of water on the floor. Luckily I’ve got dogs and kids, so I can at least blame it on one of them.

House Plant Watering TIP: A lovely woman at my work said to put an ice cube on the plant so as it slowly melts the soil is able to absorb the water. Eureka! So I’m paying it forward.
