Nanny Interview Questions
Going back to work after maternity leave is chalked full of concerns and emotions. I know. I’ve been there.
The #1 thing you can do to alleviate those concerns is to find a childcare situation that you are 110% comfortable with. This, in and of itself, is a task. You’re what, three months postpartum? MAYBE starting to get 4-5 hours of sleep in a row (if you’re lucky). You’re barely starting to feel like yourself again and you have a HUGE decision to wrestle with:
Daycare or Nanny? Montessori or Reggio? Au pair? Not to mention the financial aspects of the whole decision. You get it.
We decided to go with a Nanny. It just made sense for our situation (plus, finding daycare in our area is next to impossible. You essentially need to get on a waitlist before you get pregnant). Anyhow…
I’m a huge believer in intuition and even though was I confident that my heart would tell me who the right candidate was for us when we met her, I remember stress-fully sifting through resources to compile a list of questions that I should be asking. I knew, in order to do my diligence, there were critical questions to ask, I just wasn’t sure what those questions were.
The story ends well. We found the most amazing Nanny on the planet, Delia. She is a member of our family and I couldn’t imagine life without her. I want to help you find your Delia and you can start with THIS worksheet. It’s a comprehensive list and one-stop shop for all the nanny interview questions you’ll need. Use this free printable to drive the interview. There’s even space to take notes!
Best of luck on your search for childcare. PLEASE don’t hesitate to reach out and ask for advice!
